Clarsach Clarsach
The traditional Celtic Harp, as used by the "Chieftains" and many other well-known musicians, as they have the sound board size to give a really warm resonant sound, but are still easily portable.
There are various makes available, including Japanese & American made and those to order by indiviual makers. The one we stock is the Pilgrim Clarsach - Afromosia wood, 34 strings, gut and wires, with brass semi-tone adjustors on each string, available in various finishes (i.e waxed, gloss etc.,) starting at £1,700. The 41 string model, "The Progress", starts at £2,600.
Knee Harps Knee Harps
For decorative rather than musical use, there's a Pakistani made 22 string harp at £295 but the best value small harp is the US made "Stoney End". Hand made from Walnut, there are several different models with 6 semi-tone levers (to tune F's and C's) at £795 and semitone levers on all 22 strings at £995. They look and sound beautiful.
