Rhagair

Mae'r bâsdata yma yn gyfarwyddiadur i'r holl gerddoriaeth lleisiol yn yr iaith Gymraeg y gwyddom i fod mewn print a'r hyn o bryd. Mae yn cynnwys hefyd rhai penawdau Saesneg gyda chysylltiadau agos â Chymru fel "My Little Welsh home..", "We'll keep a welcome.." ayb. Mae'n gofnod unigryw o'r defnydd yma, a lle y gallwch eu ddarganfod.

Cychwynon y prosiect yma sawl blwyddyn yn nôl o ganlyniad i ymholiadau wrth gwsmeriad fel "Lle gall y gân ... gael ei darganfod ? ", neu "Oes trefniant corawl o...?". Datblygodd y rhestr o wybodaeth i'r fersiwn sydd ganddom nawr.

Gwaith ar gyfer cofnodi ac ymchwyl ydy hwn, nid catalog gwerthiant, felly nid oes prisau yn ymdangos arno. Gellir archebu rhai o'r caneuon mwyaf poblogaidd drwy gyfundrefn ein "Basged Siopa". a gellir wrth gwrs archebu unrhyw ddarn wrthom. Mae llawer ohonynt ganddom mewn stoc yn gyson. Mae croeso i chi wneud ymholiad am unrhyw ddarn nag y gwelwch wedi'i restri. Ynyglŷn â unawdau, rydym heb roi manylion o'r anrediad lleisiol, ond rydym wedi rhoi disgrifiadau'r cyhoeddwyr pan maent ar gael.

Datblygiad pellach o'r prosiect hon yw y bâsdata o recordiau sain o ganeuon Cymraeg (CD, Tâp & DVD). Mae'r gwaith o dan sylw nawr, felly ymholwch am hyn os dymunwch. Hefyd, mae ganddom rhestr gasgliadau Cerdd Dant, a nifer o gasgliadau Offernyol (di-lais). Cedwir y cyfarwyddiadur yma wedi ei ddiweddaru o hyd gyda cyhoeddiadau newydd, byddem yn gwerthfawrogi gwybodaeth am yr rhain. Os oes ganddoch fanylion o deitlau nad oes ar ein rhestrau, neu y gwelwch gamgymeriadau, neu os oes anhawsderau yn nefnyddio'r bâsdata byddwyn yn gwerthfawrogi gwybodaeth wrthoch amdanynt.

Bwriad y a bâsdata yma yw i bod yn gofrhestr mor llawn â phosib o'r amrwyiaeth o gerddoriaeth Cymraeg, ac i ymddangos faint ohono sydd ar gael.

Mae'r gwaith yma wedi digwydd oherwydd ymroddiad holl weithwyr Cerdd Ystwyth - Mathew Davies, Graham Edwards, Joanne Julier, Libbie Lawrence. Hoffwn hefyd ddiolch i Tom Bartlett, Bob Gautier a chwmni "Ateb", Sŵ Gerallt Jones, a Paula Toy am eu cymorth gwerthfawr, a hoffwn ddiolch i'r W.D.A. am helpu i ddod a'r brosiect yma i ffrwythlondeb

Gyda diolch,

Libbie Lawrence.

Introduction

This database is a directory of all Welsh language vocal music known to be currently in print, also including some English titles closely associated with Wales i.e. "My Little Welsh Home", "We'll keep a welcome" etc. It is a unique record of this material and where it is to be found.

We embarked on the project many years ago in response to customers' questions such as "Where can I find the song..?" or "Is there a choral arrangement of..?" and the record has now been developed to its current form.

It is a reference work, rather than a sales catalogue, so we have not stated prices. Some items are available through our shopping basket system and any item can be ordered from us. Many of the titles are regularly in stock - please enquire about any titles you can not find listed. With reference to solos, we have not specified the exact vocal range, but we have used publishers' descriptions where given.

A further development of this project will be a database of sound recordings of the songs (CD, Tape, DVD) which is already underway, so please enquire about these as well. We also have indexes of Cerdd Dant collections and many Instrumental (non-vocal) collections. The directory will be continually updated with new publications and we would appreciate information about these, also of any errors or omissions, or difficulties in using the database. It is intended to be as complete a record as possible of the wide diversity and availability of Welsh music.

It has been a team effort, primarily by the staff of Cerdd Ystwyth - Matthew Davies, Graham Edwards, Joanne Julier, and myself, Libbie Lawrence. We would also like to thank Tom Bartlett, Bob Gautier and "Ateb", Sŵ Gerallt Jones and Paula Toy for their invaluable help, and the W.D.A. for their assistance in bringing the project to fruition.

With thanks.

Libbie Lawrence
